Black Linens and a Beautiful Reception

I am starting to become a big fan of black linens for an elegant wedding reception. There is just something about how the centerpieces and favors look on a dark black background. It's amazing how just one color can bring a special and classy look to your reception.

This weekend, we did a wedding that used black tablecloths. The couple didn't have a huge floral budget, yet the flowers really stood out with the linens and gave it a beautiful look and feel. It just goes to show you how you don't have to spend a lot on a reception to make it gorgeous---spending a little extra money on one special item can have a great impact!

Backyard Pool Party Wedding

We recently helped plan and coordinate a backyard pool party wedding that was a huge hit. The couple did little nontraditional details here and there to make the wedding really represent what they are all about.

The centerpieces were amazing wildflowers purchased at the local wholesale floral market. Favors consisting of Jordan almonds and biscotti were placed at each table for people to eat. Guests enjoyed lounging in and around the pool after the meal and dancing the whole afternoon. We also placed baskets full of sunscreen and rolled up beach towels in their wedding colors by the pool for everyone to use.

Destination Wedding : Cabo San Lucas, Mexico

Above are some photos from one of our client's weddings in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico.

The ceremony was on the hotel's beach which was quite secluded. The reception was next to the beach, with a lounge area for guests to relax in between dancing the night away to great music.

J & J's Purple Wedding

All shades of purple are so popular for weddings. I have to admit that I am starting to become a big fan of this color, as it is bold and makes your wedding decor stand out.

Here are some details of one of the recent weddings that we planned in Sacramento, CA.

Vintage Wedding Details

We recently did a vintage inspired wedding in Winters, CA. It looked like the details came right off of the pages of Martha Stewart's magazine!

The dinner was done family style under the gorgeous olive trees. Guests really enjoyed this time to socialize in a lovely, shaded area. The sweets table had cute touches and the birdhouses hanging from the trees above the beverage table were very creative. There was a vintage looking seating area around the dance floor where guests mingled and played board games.

Evening in Paris

One of my couples had a Paris themed wedding and came up with some creative ways to incorporate it on their big day.

One way that they used the theme was to have a wish bowl with black and white cardstock embossed with the Eiffel Tower.

The couple also ordered match books with an image of the Eiffel tower and their names and wedding date. This is always a great and inexpensive way to keep your theme going throughout the wedding reception.

Honeymoon Style: Turks & Caicos

The wedding doesn't stop after the DJ plays the last song at the reception. There is still the honeymoon to enjoy! Every bride wants to purchase a few new items of clothing and some chic accessories for her one-and-only honeymoon. Here you will find some fantastic items to wear on your Turks & Caicos honeymoon:

This brown bandeau top bikini from Everything But Water paired with this green and brown sheer chiffon tunic from Canyon Beachwear will definitely have heads turning as you head to the beach. If you have never been to one of the Everything But Water locations, you really need to stop in next time you are nearby. We all know that buying a swimsuit can be quite an ordeal (especially when you need to be able to mix and match top and bottom sizes), but when you go to one of these stores, you have so many options that you know that you will walk out of there with the swimsuit that will make you feel like a Sports Illustrated swimsuit model. They always seem to have any and every style that you can imagine and they group them by color, so this is a store to visit before your big vacation.

With the average temperature ranging between 85 and 90 degrees in Turks & Caicos from June through October, you will definitely want some protection from the sun. The perfect accessory to go with your swimsuit is this large straw hat. This neutral color will go with any swimsuit or outfit and look fantastic while lounging near the stunning blue colored ocean. When packing for any trip, you always have to be sure that you stay within the luggage weight limit, so many items have to do double duty. Since shoes can sometimes be quite heavy, it is always smart to bring shoes that can go with numerous outfits. These brown leather Jessica Simpson sandals are so versatile on vacation and can always be worn when you return home from your honeymoon. Every pair of Jessica Simpson shoes that I own are ultra comfortable, sexy, and reasonably priced, so how could I not recommend them??!!

Inspitation Board: Pretty In Pink

Pink is a color that never goes out of style for brides and their wedding day. There are many ways to incorporate the color. You can use it as much or as little as you want and it will still have great impact. Check out some ways to use shades of pink:

Consider using linens that add a lot of pop to the tables. Something like this pink floret rope taffeta would create that "wow" factor. If you do a bold tablecloth like this, consider a more neutral centerpiece of white or cream colored flowers to keep the table from looking too busy.
A popular trend today is for the bride to wear colored shoes. These are wonderful in photos and are a cute little surprise when they peek out from under the dress. Also, there is a greater chance that you will wear colored shoes again to a party or event unlike traditional white wedding shoes that will collect dust in your closet. Also, consider getting a garter made in your wedding colors to add a little creativity to your attire. Many brides will remove their veil for the reception, so why not put a gorgeous, sparkly clip in your hair before your grand entrance. Beautiful earrings also complete your bridal look. A little bit of sparkle makes any woman feel like a princess on her wedding day! Since you will be wearing white, I always suggest having a little color in your bouquet. It is a nice contrast against your dress for all of the many photos that you will be taking that day.
Think about taking it up a notch when it comes to your wedding cake. Every guest has seen the typical white cake with piped icing details. Bold details, like flowers in your wedding colors can make a big difference.
You can even bring your wedding colors into your bridal party presents. LoveLee Studios creates custom bags that would be wonderful gifts for your girls. They have tons of fabrics to pick from and the make-up bag would be a useful present for the girls to use on your wedding day and for years after.
